Brother Will, the General
Painted for dear Ali, my neice - a memory of Will, a loving father, brother, and the guy friends liked to call the General. He was someone you admired for having grit in tough situations — a true natural leader.
He also had a fun, lovable side and a laugh that could fill a room.
This painting tries to capture Will’s playful spirit. A few years were added to the original photo – the age when he started to shine. While I painted, I felt a mix of heartache and melancholy for his loss and a rush of happy memories. I hope this piece brings much joy and reminds us that his spirit is always with us.
The sausage: Oil, acrylic, stencil masks and spray paint on 300gsm acrylic paper.
